IG Extends its Sequence of Completed Transactions in the Recycling Sector

The sale of a metal recycling company to a strategic buyer is IG’s fourth deal completion in the recycling services space within a two-year period

November 2023 – IG is pleased to announce the sale of its client, a ferrous and non-ferrous metal processor located in the Southeast region of the U.S. The Company also processes materials such as electronics, appliances, insulated copper wire and automotive parts.  The Company sources scrap metals from industrial suppliers, dealers, and electricians, as well as from the general public. The metals are sorted, processed and sold to mills, smelters, and manufacturers.

The seller represents a reputable family office. The CEO, who has served as operator of the Company, will retire upon conclusion of the ownership transition.

The buyer is a sizeable, full-service recycler with a reputable history of topnotch operations and outstanding customer service, also in the Southeast U.S. Its proficiency in recycling acquisitions led to a relatively short due diligence period of four months.

“The buyer and seller were both straightforward and to the point in getting this deal done,” said Barclay Bright, IG’s Sr. M&A Advisor and VP of the Eastern region. This was the second completed recycling deal for Bright, and he is currently working on a third. “We did encounter a challenge in aligning the Company’s separate recycling facilities, but ultimately the buyer was willing to compromise on a partial purchase.” (Of the seller’s three locations, the buyer acquired two.)

“We are very motivated by this deal, our fourth closing in the recycling industry since 2021,” said Larry Willis, President of IG. “It is important to note that we recently brought in a team member who is a Waste and Recycling Industry M&A Specialist. With these achievements, IG looks forward to assisting more business owners in the waste hauling and recycling industries who are seeking to realize their exit strategy.”

IG represents clients from across the U.S. with offices in California, the Eastern U.S, the Midwest, Texas, Utah and Idaho. The firm works in tandem with its buy-side services division, Acquisition Partners (AP), to provide a full range of M&A services. For more information about AP visit www.acq.partners.
